The woman was identified as Carol Manatad, 29, who was found dead in a bushy area of Barangay Pawican, Cataingan, Masbate
The victim was almost unrecognizable as her body was burned before being abandoned
According to an investigation by authorities reported on ONE Balita Pilipinas, on June 25, the victim went to Barangay Poblacion to remit money
At that time, he was riding a motorcycle with a friend whom he allegedly dropped off at a bank.
“He didn’t know where he was going, but he said he was just here in Poblacion, wandering around, doing some shopping. After that, the two of them went home, when they arrived in the Barangay, the one with him got off, the ones he bought…” said PSSG FLORIAN JUMAWAN, IOC, CATAINGAN MPS. “…he just left them, he said he was in a hurry to get back here in Poblacion.”
Carol’s family went to the authorities’ office to ask for help in finding her.

On June 27, Carol’s husband returned home from Manila, but Carol was still missing.
On the morning of June 28, a resident went to the authorities to report a foul odor.
And that’s when they discovered Carol’s body in a pathetic condition.
According to the authorities, they now have a ‘person of interest.’
“According to the doctor, there is a stab wound to the chest, just one, but right now we can’t say whether she was raped because her body has not been autopsied,” PSSG Jumawan added.
